The Effect of Early Sowing on Bolting of Sugar Beet (Beta vulgaris L.)

Abstract :The effect of early and normal sowing dates on the bolting of sugar beets were investigated. Early sowing (7-8 weeks before the normal sowing date when mean temparature was below 10 °C) has encauraged the rate of bolted plants by 0.8%. Among the 100 lines sown, 25 lines bolted in early sowing, 14 lines bolted in normal sowing date with the bolting rates of 1.03%, and 0.19%, respectively.
