Abstract :This research was conducted to investigate the effect of different nitrogen levels on quality and yield of sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.) in two different locations Çumra and Konya in 1991 growing season. The difference between N levels (NO: 0, N1: 6, N2: 12, N3: 18 and N4: 24 kg/da) and locations with respect of root yield, was statistically important in 1% probability level. Root yield varied betwen 3710-4980 kg/da at Konya and 4700-5550 kg/da at Çumra. NO or Control resulted the lowest root yield in both location. Digestion rate was statistically important only in 5% level either at Konya or in Çumra. At Konya, N1 gave the highest digesiton rate as 17.00% the lowest was as 15.60 from N4 while the highest value obtained as 19.50% from the plots on which N1 dose applied and the lowest was obtained as 17.90% from NO level at Çumra. Purified digesition levels were similar to that of digesiton rates. Leaf yield gradualy increased related to increasing N levels and the highest was obtained from N4 in both locations.
