Abstract :Maize (Zea mays L.) selfed lines (C-56, C-68, B73, C-98 and C-13) were put in nutrient culture in two different phosphorus concentrations (0.5 and 1.5 mol m-3 H2PO4) for 30 days in order to understand the dry matter production in the use of phosphorus. There were significant variations among genotypes for the dry matter and the highest root and shoot weight was obtained in C-98 line as 552 ad 565 mg. respectively. When the phosphorus concentration increased to 1.5 mol m-3 H2PO4, root and shoot weight also increased but shoot /root ratio did not changed. The crosses among the selfed lines which produced the highest dry matter would expected to give the highest yielding hiybrid progeny also. Keywords : Kök/sürgün oranı, besi ortamı, saf hat.
