Abstract :This study was conducted to determine the effects of different nitrogen application time and doses at winter and spring sowing on yield and some yield components of barley varieties (Tokak-157/37 and Karatay-94) in 1995-1996 growing seasons under Konya ecological conditions. The barley varieties were sown winter and spring and nitrogen doses (0, 5 and 10 kg N/ da) were applied two different time (all of nitrogen at sowing time and 1/2 sowing time + 1/2 stem elongation period. According to the rusults of this research; the highest grain yield was obtained winter sowing x 10 kg N da¹ interaction at the both varieties (Tokak 356.5 kg.da¹ and Karatay-94 312.1 kg.da¹) and 10 kg N da¹x 1/2 sowing time + 1/2 stem elongation period interaction at Tokak variety. Summer sowing reduced grain yield by 72.0% and 83.0% Tokak and Karatay variety respectively. According to the winter sowing and increased nitrogen doses the grain yield, fertile spike number (m2), fertile tiller number per plant, spike lenght and grain number per spike had been increased. Grain weight per spike and 1000 kernel weight were positively effected by winter sowing but negatively effected by increased nitrogen doses. Keywords : ARPA, KIŞLIK VE YAZLIK EKİM, AZOT
