Relationships between Body Measurements and Yield Characteristics in Awassi Sheep

Abstract :The correlations of height at withers (HW), hearth depth (HD), hearth girth (HG), medium pump width (MPW) and body length (BL) to shearing weight (SW), greasy fleece weight (GFW) and milk yield (MY) were investigated in Ivesi Sheep kept under Gözlü State Farm. The means of SW, GFW, MY, HW, HD, HG, MPW and BL were found as 56.39 kg, 2.85 kg, 151.05 kg, 71.35 cm, 36.26 cm, 106.56 cm, 17.57 cm and 62.78 cm, respectively. Average lactation period was 182.12 days. The corelations of SW to HW and HG (P<0.01) and to MPW (P<0.05) were statistically significant.
