Genetic Analysis of Growth Curve Parameters in Japanese Quail I. Growth Curve

Abstract :This study, was conducted to describe growth curve in Japanese quail (Coturnix japonica) and to determine fitting Gompertz model, one of non-linear growth curve models, to quail live weight data. Growth curve parameters for all birds W, ẞ and y were found 198.370±1.0220, 4.195±0.0204 and 0.0813±0.0004, respectively. Gompertz model\\\'s determination coefficients (R2) were found 99.86% for males, 99.70% for females and 99.81% for all birds.
