Abstract :Social media is the new deal and it has changed the way we do communicate with one another. Before people were restrained by space and time but now there are no physical boundaries; social media networks are virtually global; people using the same platform share ideas from all over the world instantaneously. Social media is being used to motivate and organize masses and help them act as one body. It is therefore essential for policymakers to understand the importance of social media and use it effectively at all times, more so during times of distress, to reach out to public and provide correct information as public is being bombarded with misinformation.
Keywords : Social media, policymaking, cultural change, politics
