Abstract :Modernliğin farklı evresinde beden ve bedene yönelik müdahaleler çokça söz edilen toplumsal olgular arasında yer almaktadır. Adeta bir yapboz oyununa tabi tutularak, estetik ve cerrahi müdahalelerle sürekli şekillendirilen beden toplumsal olarak tüketim toplumun hazcı yapısıyla yeniden inşa edilmektedir. Beden, modernliğin klasik evresinden farklı olarak, tüketim kültüründe estetikleştirilerek görselleştirilmektedir. Beden, görsel kültürün ticari kaygılarıyla nesneleştirilirken, gündelik hayatın tıbbi söylemlerle işgal edilmesi bedene yönelik müdahaleleri sağlıkla ilişkilendirilmekte ve meşrulaştırılmaktadır. Akılcılaşmayla büyüsü bozulan dünyamızın, yapay kutsallıklarla yeniden büyülenme ihtiyacı; bedene yönelik müdehalelerin kusursuzlaş(tır)ma ayinleri olarak okunabileceğini düşündürtmektedir. Bu makale, bedenin tüketim toplumundaki kutsanmış konumuna atıfta bulunarak, modernliğin farklı evresinde, bedene müdehalenin “kusursuzlaş(tır)ma ayinleri” olarak kavramsallaştırmasını incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Anahtar Kelimler: Tüketim Toplumu, Modernlik, Postmodernlik, Kusursuzlaş(tır)ma Ayinleri, Beden Abstract: Body and the interventions against the body are among the social cases mentioned frequently in the different phases of modernity. The body, which -as if a puzzle- is constantly reshaped with easthetical and surgical interventions, is rebuilt with the hedonist form of the consumption society. Different from the classic phase of the modernity, body is visualized with an easthetical perspective in the consumption culture. While the body is objectified with the commercial concerns of the visual culture, as the daily life is invaded with medical discourses, the interventions against the body are both correlated and justified with health and wellbeing. The need to glamorize our world –which is spoiled with the rationalism- with artificial sanctities, leads interventions against the body be regarded as the perfection(ing) rituals. This article makes a reference to the sacred status of the body within the consumption society and it aims to analyze the “perfection(ing) rituals” as the body intervention concept.
