Abstract :Yirminci yüzyılda sömürgelikten kurtulan toplumlar, siyasal bağımsızlıklarını kazandıktan sonra ulusal kimliklerini oluşturdular-buna aynı zamanda ulus inşası süreci denilmektedir. Bu süreç sömürgecilik döneminin mirasından etkilenmiştir. Dış etkinin en güçlü olduğu Orta Doğu ve Hint Yarımadasındaki ulus-devletlerde, günümüzde yaşanan sosyal ve siyasal sancılar, bir şekilde ulus inşası sürecinde olup bitenler ile alakalandırılabilir.   The nations which liberated themselves from colonial rule in the 20th century created their national identity after they had acquired political independence, which is also called the process of nation-building. This process was affected by the legacy of colonialism. In the nation-states of the Middle East and Indian sub-continent, the countries that were exposed to external influence the most, it seems that present political and social pains are somewhat related to what had happened during the process of nation-building.
