Abstract :Özet: Anlatma esasına bağlı eserlerin önemli öğelerinden biri tasvir bölümleridir. Anlatılan olayın okuyucunun/dinleyicinin zihninde canlanabilmesi, betimlemelerin görselleştirme fonksiyonunu başarıyla gerçekleştirmesine bağlıdır. Elaine Scarry, “Kitapla Hayal Etmek” adlı çalışmasında yazarların, kelimeleri resimlere, resimleri hareketli imgelere hangi teknikleri kullanarak dönüştürdüklerini araştırır. Bu yazıda, Sait Faik’in Tüneldeki Çocuk adlı hikâyesinden yola çıkılarak, yazarların dil aracılığıyla okuyucunun zihninde hareketli imgeler yaratmak için kullanmakta oldukları teknikler, örneklerle gösterilmeye çalışılacaktır. To Dream the Child in the Tunnel in Sait Faik’s Story “Tüneldeki Çocuk” Abstract: Description is one of the significant elements of narration. Whether the reader can have the image of narrated events depends on the success of image making function of the description. Elaine Scarry, in her story “Dreaming by the Book” examines that the author investigates how they transformed words to pictures, photos to the moving image. This article tries to exemplify and show the language techniques used by writers in order to create animated images for the readers.
