Abstract :Öz Bu çalışmanın amacı, ortaokul 2. sınıf öğrencilerinin okuma becerilerinin geliştirilmesinde eğitsel oyunlardan faydalanılmasının başarı ve kalıcılığa etkisini ortaya koymaktır. Araştırma deneysel yöntem içerisinde yer alan ön test–son test kontrol gruplu modelinden olup yarı deneysel bir nitelik taşımaktadır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu Erzurum ili Palandöken ilçesinde bulunan farklı sosyoekonomik bölgelerdeki okullardan random (rastgele) yöntemle seçilmiş üç okuldaki öğrencilerden oluşmaktadır. Deney (eğitsel oyun) grupları, birinci okuldan 33, ikinci okuldan 30 ve üçüncü okuldan 22 toplamda 85 öğrenci; kontrol gurupları ise birinci okuldan 35, ikinci okuldan 33 ve üçüncü okuldan 22 toplamda 90, genel toplamda 175 altıncı sınıf öğrencisinden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmada okuma becerisini geliştirmeye yönelik çalışmalar yapılmıştır. Veriler araştırmacının hazırlamış olduğu "Okuma Becerisi Başarı Testi" (OBBT) ile toplanmış ve uygulama sonucu elde edilen veriler, SPSS 18.00 kullanılarak analiz edilmiş ve yorumlar yapılmıştır. Ayrıca kontrol ve deney gruplarının başarı düzeylerini karşılaştırmak amacı ile uygulanmış ön ve son testlerin analizi bağımsız gruplar için, “bağımsız t testi” kullanılarak yapılmıştır. Sonuç olarak eğitsel oyunlarla öğretim tekniğinin öğrencilerin okuma becerisinin geliştirilmesinde mevcut öğretim programı yaklaşımlarına göre daha etkili olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Anahtar Kelimeler: Ortaokul, eğitsel oyunlar, okuma, başarı, kalıcılık   Abstract The aim of this study is to examine the influence of using educational games on achievement and permanence in the 6th grade students’ reading skills. The study includes experimental method; however as it is based on a control group that includes pre and post test it is a quasi-experimental study. The experimental group of the study consists of students of three schools which were chosen randomly among different schools that have different socio-economic regions in Erzurum, Palandöken. Experiment groups were consisted of 85 students, 33 of them were from the first school, 30 of them were from the second school and 22 of them were from the third school; on the other hand the control groups were consisted of 90 students, 35 of them were from the first school, 33 of them were from the second school and 22 of them were from the third school. There were 175 6th grade students in total. In the study, the research was conducted to improve reading skill. Data were collected via “Reading Skills Achievement Test” (OBBT) which was prepared by the researcher. The data that were collected from the study were analyzed by using SPSS 18.00 and evaluations were done. In addition, the analysis of pre and post tests for independent groups were done by using ‘independent t test’ to compare the success of control and experiment groups. As a result, it is revealed that teaching with educational plays is more influential in the improvement of students’ reading skills when compared to other teaching approaches.
