Abstract :Erzurum evlerinin incelenmesi, Erzurum'un içtimai tarihi bakımından çok mühimdir. Çünkü, evlerin inşa tarzı, halkın günlük yaşantısı hakkında önemli bilgiler içerir. Erzurum evlerinin inşa tarzında uzun süren sogıJk kış aylarının yeri büyüktür. Evlerin yapımında kullanılan temel malzeme taştır. Yine Erzurum'da meydana gelen birkaç önemli deprem, evlerin yapım şeklini son derece etkilemiştir. Bu depremlerden en mühimi birçok evin yıkılmasıyla sonuçlanan 1859 depremidir. Bu depremden sonra Erzurum evleri, yeni bir tarzda inşa edilmeğe başlanmıştır. Bu çalışmamızda özellikle Başbakanlık Osmanlı Arşivi'ndeki (istanbul) belgelerden, Erzurum'u ziyaret eden yerli ve yabancı seyyahların hatıralarından ve konuyla ilgili araştırma eserlerinden faydalanılmıştır.   ABSTRACT it is very important to research the houses of Erzurum as to the social history ofthecity. BecausethebuiIdingstyle ofthehouses includes very important information about the daily life of the people. The cold weather in the winter months has very important share on the style of the houses. It is used stone material predominantIy in the construction of the houses. Also, several earthquakes which took place in different dates affect the construction plan of the houses. The most important earthquake resulting in collapsing a lot of houses took place in 1859. After this earthquake, the houses of Erzurum are reconstructed in a new style. In this research, documents in the Premiership Otoman Archive (Başbakanlık Osmanlı Arşivi-İstanbul), local and foreign traveliers memories who visited Erzurum and scientific boks connected with this subject are predominantly profited.
