Abstract :Superior accreditation is a challenge for many private universities (PTS) in Indonesia, and it is marked by the achievement gap between private universities that have achieved the accreditation and those still struggling to achieve it. The causative factors include limited human resources, funding, the ability to produce quality research, and competition with State Universities (PTN). This study aims to identify the benefits of superior accreditation for private universities, explain their role in sustainability, and analyze the challenges faced in achieving superior accreditation. This study uses the literature review method to examine previous findings on superior accreditation and sustainable performance in the higher education sector. The conclusion shows that superior accreditation significantly improves reputation and access to resources. However, its achievements are inseparable from challenges such as limited infrastructure and human resources. The practical implications are improving lecturer competence, collaborating with industry, and strengthening the quality management system. The latest of this research lies in integrating superior accreditation as a strategic tool in supporting the sustainability and competitiveness of private universities in a sustainable manner, different from previous studies that focused more on the technical aspects of accreditation.
