Abstract :Bugün Hazar'ın kuzeyinde Rusya Federasyonu'na bağlı özerk bir bölgede yaşamlarını sürdüren Kalmuklar üzerine gerçekleştirilen çalışmalarda, bu isim genel olarak Batı Moğollarına atıfla kullanılmaktadır. Ancak bu çalışmalar incelendiğinde Kalmuk adının farklı grupları ifade ettiği ve bu nedenle ismin kullanımında bir birlik sağlanamadığı görülecektir. Biz bu çalışmada söz konusu farklı kullanımları bir araya getirerek, Timur sonrası Türk tarihinde ve Türk dünyasında önemli izler bırakan Kalmukların adının kullanımı konusunda bir sonuca ulaşmaya çalıştık. Abstract Some Considerations on the Name of Kalmyk Studies carried out incident to Kalmyks, currently living in an autonomous region of the Russian Federation, in the north of the Caspian Sea, has revealed that this name is used in reference to the Western Mongolians in general. However, when these studies are analyzed it can be seen that the name Kalmyk is referred to different groups and as such a unity in the use of the name cannot be achieved. In this study, We have tried to reach a conclusion about the use of the name which has left a significant mark in the Turkish world and Turkish history after Timur through bringing together cited different uses.
