Abstract :Bu arastırmanın amacı, ilköğretim öğrencilerinin, Osmanlılar hakkındaki düsüncelerini, yaklasımlarını öğrenmek ve Sosyal Bilgiler dersinin, zihinlerindeki Osmanlı algısının olusumunda olumlu ya da olumsuz ne kadar etkili olduğunu ortaya çıkarmaktır. Arastırmada belirtilen amacı gerçeklestirmek için tarama modeli uygulanmıs, anket sonuçları bilgisayar ortamında analiz edilmistir. Elde ettiğimiz veriler çok fazla sasırtıcı olmamakla beraber bazı durumlarda öğrencilerin bakıs açıları tahmin edilenden çok farklı olmustur. Sorulara verilen cevaplardaki faklılıklar, sosyo-ekonomik durumun bile tarihe bakıs açısını değistirebileceğini düsündürmektedir. Öğrencilerin sosyal bilgiler dersini genel olarak Osmanlı algısı adına olumlu buldukları görülmektedir. Anahtar Kelimeler: Sosyal bilgiler, ilköğretim, tarih eğitimi, Osmanlı algısı.   Abstract : This research aims to learn the elementary school student’s ideas and way of thinking about the Ottoman Empire; also this research tries to reveal how much social studies class is effective negatively or positively on the perception of Ottoman Empire. In order to reach the purpose mentioned above, survey model was used and results were analyzed by the way of a computer program. Although acquired datas aren’t very surprising, some answers was very different from the other anticipated answers. Differences among the answers shows that even the socio economic situation can be effective on the perception of history. It is observed that students find the social studies class useful to understand Ottoman Empire. Key Words: Social studies, elemantary education, history education, perception of Ottoman empire.
