Abstract :Araştırma alanı, Kocaeli ili sınırları içinde yer alan Arslanbey Beldesi, Karatepe Dağı ve İzmit şehir merkezini içermektedir. Alandan toplanan 918 bitki örneğinin değerlendirilmesi sonucu 101 familyaya ait 344 cins ve 489 tür ve tür altı seviyede takson tespit edilmiştir. Bu taksonların 54 tanesi kültür olup diğer 435 takson doğaldır. 11 takson Türkiye için endemik olup endemizm oranı % 2,55’tir. Taksonların fitocoğrafik bölgelere dağılımı ise şöyledir: AvrupaSibirya 102 % 20,85 , İran-Turan 11 % 2,24 , Akdeniz 60 % 12,26 ve geniş yayılışlılar ile fitocoğrafik bölgesine karar verilemeyenler ise 317 % 64,82 ’dir. Tespit edilen taksonların 5’i Pteridophyta, 484’ü ise Spermatophyta’ya aittir
