Abstract :Kimlik, bireyselden toplumsala doğru bir gidişle kendisine tanım alanları oluşturan bir yapıdır. Bu yapı içerisinde beni tanımlama ihtiyacı duyan her birey, bizden de bahsetmek durumundadır. Dolayısıyla salt bir benlik algısı mümkün değildir. Benlik ancak kendisini var eden değerler dizgesi içerisinde kolektif yapıyla anlam kazanır. Bu kolektif yapıyı ise toplumda ortak aidiyetler olarak adlandırılan dil, tarih, coğrafya ve din gibi unsurlar  sağlar. Bu unsurlarla birbirine bağlanan toplumlar millet olurlar. Ziya Gökalp’in Çanakkale adlı şiiri bir milletin çöküş sürecinden kendi benlik algısına yapılan saldırılar aracılığıyla nasıl kurtulduğuna gönderme yapar. Benliğini algılayan millet geleceğe dönük kimliğini de kurmayı hedefler. Bu çalışmada Gökalp’in Çanakkale şiirindeki benlik algısı ve kimlik kurgusu Türk milletinin varoluş mücadelesini nasıl ele aldığı noktasına odaklanmaktadır.    Anahtar Sözcükler : Benlik, kimlik, Ziya Gökalp, Çanakkale The Conception of Identification and Identity in the “Çanakkale” Poem by Ziya Gökalp Abstract Identity is a structure that creates a definition area for itself, moving from the individual to society. In this structure, every individual who needs to identify the “I”, is also obliged to mention the “we”. Therefore, a completely independent definition of the self is impossible. The self only attains its true meaning within a collective structure, which makes it possible to exist. That collective structure is comprised of such elements as language, history, geography and religion, all of which can be termed as “common identification values”. Societies intertwined through these elements can only become nations. “Çanakkale”, a poem by Ziya Gökalp, focuses mainly on how a nation restores itself from a state of collapse through attacks made upon its conception of self. A nation, comprehending the importance and true nature of its own “self”, begins to reshape its identity for the future. In this study, “Çanakkale”, a poem by Ziya Gökalp focusing on the conception of the self and identity, will be analysed in terms of how the Turkish nation managed to reshape its destiny and identity.
