Abstract :Sodium bismuthate in an acid medium reacts uith primary and secondary aliphatic alco-hols and benzylic alcohols under mild conditions to give the corresponding carbonyl compounds in moderate to high yields. Sodium bismuthate cari be applied advantageously for the oxidation of benzylic alcohols.
