Abstract :Lactococcus lactis subsp. lactis MLL76 exhibits two mechanisms which confer resistance to virulent bacteriophages. These include interference with bacteriophage adsorption insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(Ads+); and bacteriophage DNA injection blocking insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(Phi+);. Curing of plasmid DNA from strain MLL76 has allovved bacteriophage resistance functions assigned to two of its six plasmids.
