Abstract :Osteoporoz, ilerleyici karakterde bir sistemik kemik hastalığı olup, artmış frajilite, düşük kemik kütlesi ve kırık riski ile karakterizedir. Osteoporoz, hem kortikal hem de kansellöz kemiğin yapısını etkilemektedir. Osteoporozun oral ve maksillofasiyal yapılar üzerine olan en önemli etkileri; kemik hacmi ve dansisitesinde azalma ile periodontitistir. Bu hasta grubunda oral ve maksillofasiyal cerrahi işlemler için kesin kontraendikasyon bulunmamakla beraber, uygun durum ve koşulların sağlanarak pre- ve postoperatif dönemde komplikasyondan uzak sonuçlar elde edilebilir. Bu derlemede, osteoporozlu hastalarda dental implant uygulamaları da dahil olmak üzere oral ve maksillofasiyal cerrahi işlemlerde dikkat edilmesi gereken hususlar derlenmiştir.
