Abstract :Ahmad Yassawi’s sufi c thoughts and Yesevî Yeseviyye Cult which was established by him had an infl uence on a wide geography from Middle East to Anatolia and the Balkans. Yesevî who became prominent with his literary personality as well as his spiritual personality, higlighted divine love, religious subjects and religious-sufi c factors which create a virtuous person, in the poems that he wrote in ‘’Dîvân-ı Hikmet’’ and so played an important role for developing Islam among Turkish people. The music tradition that Middle East Turks had performed with Lute before Islamisation had a different content when Yesevî’s wisdom was added to it. Therefore Yassawi’s wisdom penetrated into Turkish religious music which refl ects our Anatolian tradition of knowledge and had started to draw attention with the new composition and performance types made in the last period. This article aims to reveal Ahmad Yassawi’s place, effect and importance in Turkish religious music.
