Abstract :ÖZET Bu çalışmada dudak-damak yarıklı hastalarda klinik ve genetik araştırmalar yapılarak etyolojisinin aydınlanmasına katkıda bulunmak amaçlanmıştır. Metod fizik muayene, prenatal ve natal dönemlere ilişkin ayrıntıların saptanması ve pedigri çiziminden ibarettir. Çalışmanın sonunda damak yarıklarının dudak, dudak-damak yarıklarından ayrı bir antite sayılablleceği kararlaştırılmıştır. Prenatal dönemde çevrenin zararlı etkileri dudak-damak yarıklarının oluşumuna yol açabileceği anlaşılmış, kalıtımın varlığı belirgin olarak gözlenmiş ve polijenik tipte kalıtım olduğu saptanmıştır. SUMMARY The purpose of this study is to carry out some clinical and genetic observations in patients with cleft-lip and palate and to find out some additional factors in its etiology. The method includes examinations, the detailes noted in prenatal and natal periods and the pedigree. As a result it is decided that cleft palate can be considered as a different entity from cleft-lip and cleft-lip cleft-palate. It is understood that the harmful effect of the environment during the prenatal period can produce cleft-lip, cleft-palate, the presence of heredity is clearly observed and it is found that there is heredity in the polygenic type.
