Abstract :ÖZET Protez kullanmaya başlayan 23 kadın ve 17 erkek hastadan, protezden önce ve protez uygulandıktan sonra alveol kretlerinden ve damaktan aynı koşullarda ekuviyon ile muayene maddesi alınarak aerop ağız florası incelenmiştir. Beta hemolitik streptokoklar ve candidalar dışında florada dikkati çeken büyük bir değişiklik görülmemiştir. Ayrıca protez uygulandıktan sonra bakteri sayısında genellikle artış olduğu saptanmıştır. SUMMARY In this study, aerobic flora of the mouth of 40 subjects was investigated before and after insertion of complete dentures. For that, test materials were obtained from residual alveolar ridges as well as from the palates in denture bearing areas of upper jaws for bactériologie investigation. The results have revealed that there would be not much difference between the aerobic flora of the mouths of denture wearers and the non -denture wearers, except finding some p haemolytic streptococcus and Candida colonies in the test materials. It also seemed that there were a general increase in the number of bacteries  in denture wearers.
