Abstract :Bu araştırmaya göre M arlowe’un “Tamburlaine the Great” adlı oyunu gerçek tarihi olaylardan oldukça uzaktır. Marlovve, Orta Asya Türkleri ve İslam hakkında da pek bilgi sahibi değildir. Timur, saygın bir aileye insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(Barlas); mensub olup, bir beyin oğludur. Marlovve onun dinsiz bir çobanın oğlu olduğunu iddia eder. Halbuki, o Beyazid’e göre daha katı şeriatçı ve sert yapıya sahip bir hükümdar idi. Böyle olmakla beraber, dervişlere ve âlimlere saygısı büyüktü. Onlar için Kazakistan ve Özbekistan’da görkemli binalar yaptırmıştır. Beyazıt’i hapse atmayıp, evlatlarını atfetmiştir. Karısının etini yemesini de emretmemiştir. Sonuç olarak, AvrupalIları Türk tarihi hakkında yanıltan bu tür eserler eleştiri süzgecinden geçirilmelidir
