Abstract :Abana vvhich has a population of about 4000 is a small town in Kastamonu. It is near the Black Sea. Owing to hard life condition, the great majority of people migrates to İstanbul or Ankara. In this, the folk culture became likely to forget. This paper deals vvith the think of folk culture in Abana; customary rituels associated vvith tradational or modem Abana homes; family and some marriage customs, basic characteristic of vveddings and bayrams, festivals; folk medicine and certain metods used in treatment; folk beliefs; folk cooking; instruments of kitehen and farm, tradational vvomen costumes;animal’s illness and certain metods used in treatment; home buildings, hunting...
