Abstract :Türkiye`de Goethe ve Faust`un tarihçesi, Türklerin 19. yüzyılda Batı edebiyatıyla tanışmasıyla başlar. 1839`da Tanzimat`la birlikte başlayan Osmanlı Devleti`nin modernizasyonu sürecinde Avrupa’nın teknoloji, bilim, kültür ve edebiyat dünyasına büyük bir ilgi doğdu. O dönemde Avrupalı ve bilhassa da Fransız yazarların çok sayıda eseri Türkçeye çevrildi.
