Abstract :Due to the high use of pesticides, undesirable effects are observed in the environment and toxic effects occur in terrestrial and aquatic organisms via pesticide bioaccumulation. Although bioaccumulation levels are low, especially in aquatic ecosystems, toxicological effects on aquatic organisms have been observed. Synthetic pyrethroids are pesticides produced for domestic and agricultural pests and tau-fluvalinate is also a broad-spectrum synthetic pyrethroid. Our study investigated the histopathological effects of zebrafish exposed to tau-fluvalinate at two different doses (8µg/L,16µg/L) on testicular tissue. After 5 days of exposure, testicular tissues were dissected and routine histological methods were applied. Tissues were investigated under a light microscope after they were stained with hematoxylin & eosin. As a result of tau-fluvalinate exposure, deterioration in seminiferous tubule morphology, interstitial fibrosis, vascular congestion, karyorrhexis and hypertrophic spermatogenic cells were detected. Tau-fluvalinate exposure was found to induce apoptosis and cause germ cell deterioration.
