Abstract :Son istatistiklere göre Dünya’da 8 milyon hektar alana yayılmış bulunan 750 milyon zeytin ağacı mevcuttur. Bu miktarın %97’si Akdeniz ülkelerinde, %3’ü ise Amerika, Avustralya ve diğer memleketlerdedir. Türkiye zeytinlik sahası yönünden İspanya ve İtalya’dan sonra üçüncü, ağaç varlığı ve zeytinyağı üretimi yönünden ise İspanya, İtalya ve Yunanistan’dan sonra dördüncü sırayı almaktadır.
