Abstract :The article is devoted to the problems of studying the integral part of the history of the Soviet period - the rehabilitation of victims of political repression in Kazakhstan. Based on the sources of Kazakhstani and foreign archives, attempt was made to analyze the socio-political situation after Stalin`s death in Kazakhstan. The reasons for the beginning of the rehabilitation process in the early 50s and its clotting in the second half of the 60s of the XX century were revealed. It is proved that the main reasons for the termination of the review of cases and the rehabilitation of victims of Stalinist repression were administrative-command methods of leadership, which did not changed during the ―thaw‖ period.
