Abstract :The article is devoted to the level of research of the most important uprising of 1916 in the Kazakh history. In particular, the historiography analyzes the works of the leaders of the Soviet state-building in Kazakhstan and prominent figures of the Kazakh national liberation movement, reflecting their positions, views on the uprising of 1916. Two areas of the Kazakh intelligentsia that were subjected to Stalin`s repressions concerning the 1916 uprising were analyzed. The positions of S.Asfendiyarov, A.Zhangeldin, T.Ryskulov, S.Mendeshev, T.Zhurgenov set forth the foundations of the principle of class historiography. The positions of the Kazakh democratic intelligentsia, which appeared in the early twentieth century, including M.Chokai, M.Dulatov, A.Bukeikhanov, are based on national views and historical viability.
