Abstract :Chinghiz Aitmatov, an eminent modern writer, raises problems of concern to all who inhabit our common home, the Earth, and are relevant at all times. Good and Evil, Life and Death, Love and Hate, Honor and Disgrace, Memory and Oblivion - these are questions that find their artistic expression in the creative work of the writer. The article draws attention to the fact that Aitmatov reveals all these serious and important problems on the material of his native Kyrgyz reality. Beauty, love, kindness are inextricably linked with each other in Aitmatov’s works. A person in the high sense of the word in Aitmatov`s presentation is sensitive to beauty, can sincerely, selflessly love, can appreciate GOOD and do GOOD. The combination of these features can be seen in many heroes who embody the ideal of the writer. The article gives comparison of the heroes from the story “The White Steamer” and the novel “When the mountains fall. The Eternal Bride.” against the backdrop of the above traits. The answer to the question “How can a person be a human being?”, which could be put as an epigraph to all the creative work of the writer, is given through various artistic means, and the most important of them is the extensive use of folklore motifs.
