Abstract :Environmental pollution and its consequences are among the issues of global concern, as they significantly impact various areas, particularly social, economic, and health domains. Human activities such as population growth, urbanization, industrialization, production, and consumption lead to environmental problems, including water, air, and soil pollution. Within this scope, the study addresses key issues caused by environmental problems, carbon footprints, climate change, and global warming. It focuses on carbon tax, one of the global policy instruments used to combat these challenges. The study was conducted based on a qualitative research approach, specifically utilizing the document analysis method. In this context, international agreements related to carbon taxation and relevant academic studies were systematically examined, and in-depth evaluations were made regarding the environmental impacts, implementation status, and effectiveness of the carbon tax. Based on the literature review, the study concludes that while carbon taxes have positive environmental effects, they are not sufficiently implemented globally or in Türkiye. The study also discusses the potential benefits and policy recommendations that could arise from addressing this gap and promoting broader implementation. Keywords : Çevre Kirliliği, Karbon Vergisi, Sera Gazları, Karbon Ayak İzi
