Abstract :Translations are crucial to modernize languages and to improve world literature. World languages experience contact and world literature acquaintance with each other through translations. Different cultures and civilizations are aware of each other through translations. That is why translation has a worldwide function. The first literary works were translated into the third century of anno hegirae. After these dates, the translations from the other languages into Kurdish had continued. Garzonî, Mehmûdê Bazidî, and Fossum are among some of them who focused on Kurdish translation. After them, some Kurdish journals and newspapers published some translations in Damascus and Istanbul. Especially, after 1992 translations had been increased in Istanbul. Moreover, Kurdish instructors concerned with translation both orally and in written forms. Even though from the beginning of 19. century to the end of 20. century the Kurdish translations were a hot area, there are a small number of academic studies on this area. In this study, we reveal the literary translation situation of Kurdish in Turkey and Syria by giving the name of literary work and writer. To reach this purpose, we search for the traces of literary translations which published before 2000 in Turkey. We just keep out the literary translations which translated from Kurdish to other languages. In addition to that, the Kurmanji and Sorani Kurdish literary translations in Iraq, Iran, Caucasus, and Europa are also excluded.
