Abstract :In this remarkable endeavor of conceptual history, Murat Şiviloğlu traces the emergence and growth of public opinion in the nineteenth-century Ottoman world. Or rather say Ottoman Istanbul; as with many books with titles suggesting that they cover the entire empire, it is restricted to a view from and of the capital city.
