Abstract :As an important part of global trade, freight transport has grown rapidly over the past two decades. Designing cost effective and highly efficient transport networks is extremely important in freight transport. The main modes of transport are air, rail, road and sea. Although road transport still constitutes a significant part of freight transport, intermodal transport is a preferred alternative for establishing a sustainable transport system. Intermodal transport can be defined as the transport of goods in the same transport insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(loading); unit using two or more modes of transport together, and the handling of the goods rather than the goods themselves. The use and development of intermodal transport have numerous economic, social and environmental advantages. In this study, a detailed literature search is presented by various classifications on intermodal freight transport problems; suggestions for future work have been made.
