The Views of New Graduates of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration on Their Employment

Abstract :Political Science and Public Administration Department graduates have employment opportunities in various national and international organizations. Graduates of the department compete to evaluate employment opportunities. However, the large number of graduates who have completed this education and obtained a diploma makes it difficult for them to seek employment. The absence of studies addressing the employment status of graduates from this department reveals a significant gap in the existing literature. The aim of this study is to contribute to addressing this deficiency by seeking to fill this gap through the views of recent graduates from the department. The study was conducted using a qualitative single-case study design. Participants were selected from among students who had graduated from the department in the last two years using a purposive snowball sampling technique. Data was collected through interviews. Semi-structured interview questions were asked during the interviews. The collected data were analyzed in terms of content. One of the themes identified was “department preferences,” the second was “education in the department,” and the third was “employment of graduates.” They said if they were to choose again, they would choose the same department even if there were other universities to choose from, that they were satisfied with the education and training in the department, and that employment was attributed to career planning, work, and merit.
