Abstract :In this article, the author examines the theoretical issues of international integration associations and, on this basis, it is proposed to consider the problems of sustainability of the effectiveness of such organizations as the CIS and the EAEU. The theoretical prerequisites for the development of integration associations are based on the classification of integration levels by the American political scientist Joseph Nye, as well as a number of other scientists and specialists on international economic organizations. The levels of integration of the CIS and the EAEU are compared. The influence of such parameters as economic potential and economic policy on the stability of the organization is emphasized. It is concluded that it is necessary to identify the interests of member countries of economic unions for the development of an integration association and in connection with the need to conduct preventive research on problems that lead to centrifugal forces within associations.
