The Effect of Brain Based Learning on Academic Achievement and Students’ Attitude in Turkey: A Meta Analytical Study

Abstract :Brain Based Learning approach is a new and promising trend in education, therefore researchers provide increasing data about its effects in real life. In this meta-analysis study, data from studies investigating the effect of Brain Based Learning on academic achievement and students’ attitude in Turkey were combined to reveal the effectiveness of Brain Based Learning. For this purpose, experimental studies insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(40 about academic achievement and 25 about students’ attitude); published between 2005 and 2015, in Turkey and meeting the inclusion criteria were analysed by treatment effectiveness meta-analysis method. Effect sizes were calculated according to Hedges’s g. In addition, the effect size values of Brain Based Learning on academic achievement and on students’ attitude were compared in terms of study type and study year. As a result, we concluded that Brain Based Learning has a positive and large effect on academic achievement and a positive but moderate effect on students’ attitude. We also found that the effect size values of Brain Based Learning on both academic achievement and students’ attitude do not change by type or year of the study.
