Abstract :Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad is an important novel because it highlights both the colonial process and the intercultural state of Africa. The novel makes clear the encounter between the European subject and the other in Africa. The rule of the Europeans and the oppression of the African people are called into question as the central theme of the novel. The intercultural constellation and the colonial process in Africa are considered in a literary text. The attitude of the Europeans towards the African people is concretized and in this concretization the complex narrative construction of the novel plays a big role.
