Abstract :The modern economies of the countries depend on energy and related technologies. A significant portion of the total import volume in Turkey since 1985 stems from energy imports. In this study, Turkey\`s energy production and consumption in the last 20 years with total imports and energy imports values were examined in comparison with the world. Energy types in Turkey are considered. Considering the world developments and trends in Turkey the total energy production and consumption have been estimated for 2040. Considering the population growth projections, energy production has been determined until 2040. Renewable energy, especially solar and wind energy production will increase in electricity energy, whereas fossil-based production and consumption will decrease. Meanwhile, production of nuclear energy share in total electricity energy is estimated to have Turkey to 11% in 2040.
