Abstract :While medical faculty graduates traditionally pursue careers in patient care and academic research, the pharmaceutical industry also offers a significant and growing avenue for their careers. This article examines the diverse roles of medical faculty graduates in the pharmaceutical industry, their motivations for entering this field, the required competencies, and the challenges faced, both internationally and specifically in Turkey. It highlights the contributions of physicians to multidisciplinary approaches within departments such as Research and Development (R&D), Medical Affairs, clinical research, regulatory affairs, and marketing. The article discusses the increasing career opportunities for physicians in this field and the necessity for medical education to equip them with the competencies suitable for these new career paths. Furthermore, it focuses on the transition processes of physicians into the pharmaceutical industry in Turkey and the future potential of the sector.
