Abstract :İstanbul\`un tarihi ve arkeolojik araştırmalar sahası, geçen yıl beklenmedik bir surette ölen Prof. Dr. Alfons Maria Schneider\`den sonra, bu yıl da Ernest Mamboury\`yi kaybetmiş bulunuyor. Ömrünün büyük bir kısmını yurdumuzda geçiren Mamboury çok şey görmüş ve çok malzeme toplamış olmakla beraber, faaliyetinin büyük bir kısmını memleketimizin muhtelif bölgeleri hakkındaki rehberlere hasretmiş ve bunlar arasında bilhassa bir tanesi, muhtelif dillerde birçok baskıları yapılan İstanbul rehberi ile, haklı bir şöhrete erişmiştir
