Abstract :In this article, the author discusses the rare and largely unknown advertising prints of Philipp Johann v. Strahlenberg’s main work “Das Nord= und Ostliche Theil von Europa und Asia” as well as his map of Eurasia. v. Strahlenberg is considered today to be one of the pioneers of Ural-Altaic theory and an early classifier of the linguistic world of Siberia. The advertising prints discussed in the article are significant in that they allow some conclusions to be drawn about the history of the printing of v. Strahlenberg’s work and provide an insight into the contacts or social network that surrounded the author.
