Abstract :Aydınlanma, 18. yüzyıl Avrupa’sı düşünce alanında yaşanan köklü değişim dönemidir. Akıl, doğa yasası ve ilerleme gibi kilit sözcüklere sahip olan bu dönem, insan aklının ön plana çıkma çabalarını ifade eder. Bu çalışmada “Aydınlanma Nedir?” sorusuna cevap arayan Kant ve Foucault’nun görüşleri doğrultusunda ‘aydınlanma’ kavramının açıklanması amaçlanmıştır. Aydınlanmaya dair iki görüş ele alınmış, Kant ve Foucault’nun aydınlanma anlayışları değerlendirilmiştir. Enlightenment is the period of radical change in the field of idea in the 18th century Europe. This period, which has key words such as mind, nature law and progress, expresses the efforts of the human mind to come to the forefron. In this study, it is aimed to explain the concept of enlightenment according to the opinions of Kant and Foucault who are seeking answers to the question “What is Enlightenment?”. Two views on enlightenment are taken into consideration; Kant and Foucault’s understanding of enlightenment is evaluated.
