Abstract :Yaşlanma sosyolojisi ve sosyal gerontoloji için büyük bir endişe teorik keskinliğin eksiliğidir. Özellikle Birren ve Bengtson insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(1988); tüm sosyal gerontolojiyi “veri açısından zengin ama teori açısından zayıf” olarak tanımlamışlardır. Teori eksikliğini gidermek için yazılan bu makale, genel sosyal gerontoloji literatürünü Marksist bir perspektiften gözden geçirmektedir. Bulgular, Marksist çerçevenin, sosyal gerontolojinin şimdiye kadar hem akademik hem de uygulamalı alanlarda incelenmemiş olan yönlerini aydınlatabileceğini göstermektedir.
