Abstract :Cities have been decisive both in the historical accumulation of humanity and in shaping the future of humanity. There is a built-in parallelism between the emergence of cities and the development of civilisation. In the contemporary period, urbanisation has emerged as a dominant feature of modern societies, reflecting the profound impact of cities on our collective existence. The growth/expansion of cities has increased exponentially and as a result the experience of urban life has become an integral part of modern human existence. One of the main theoretical frameworks used to analyse the impact of urbanisation on individuals is Georg Simmel`s ‘Metropolis and Mental Life’ theory. This theory examines how the modern urban environment shapes human behaviour and social interactions. This study will examine Simmel`s theories of urbanisation and alienation in order to reveal their importance in the context of today`s global urbanisation. The concept of alienation in the process of urbanisation and its effects on individuals will be discussed, as well as the changes that modern cities bring about in people and the traces of urban alienation that constitute a stage of this change process will be investigated. Keywords : Yabancılaşma, Kentleşme, Modern Kent, Kente Yabancılaşma
