Abstract :Airlines engage in competition with one another with regard to the routes they operate. The existence of a demand from passengers wishing to travel between two points on the flight routes provides airlines with an opportunity to leverage their resources in a way that benefits them. From a broader perspective, this competitive dynamic, which initially appears to be limited to airlines operating on the same routes, is not limited to this. In this study, the objective is to employ regression analysis to model the differences in ticket prices between direct and connecting flights, as well as to identify the factors that are thought to be effective on the ticket price of connecting flights. The results of the study shows that variables such as non-stop flight, flight duration and connection quality exert a significant influence on the models for both ticket price and price gap. Conversely, variables such as perceived travel time, transfer time, westbound travel and airline service quality have a significant impact on ticket price gap. Furthermore, route detour factor and temporal detour variables have a significant impact only in the models for connecting ticket price. It is anticipated that the research will prove beneficial for practitioners and decision makers in light of the findings obtained.
