Abstract :Many etiological factors may cause tremor. Surgical treatment can be used in some forms of tremor if medical therapy fails. Essential tremor, Parkinson’s disease tremor, Holmes tremor and multiple sclerosis tremor can be treated by surgery. Surgical methods are radiofrequency thalamotomy, thalamic deep brain stimulation and gamma knife thalamotomy. The success rate is high in essential tremor and Parkinsons disease tremor. However in other types of tremor surgical results are not very satisfactory. The complication rates after surgery are within acceptable limits nowadays
