Abstract :The advantages and disadvantages of using local flaps for head and neck region is mentioned in this paper. We discussed the issue with the guide of 352 patients who applied to the Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery clinics for the last 10 years and had reconstruction with local flaps. Local flaps are very valuable alternative for reconstruction of head and neck defects. A surgeon who is experienced in the use of local flaps and planning the procedure, almost always has good aesthetic results even for the big defects. But we have to keep in mind that reconstructions even done with local flap can result with serious complications
