Nadir Görülen Bir Osteopetrozis Tarda Olgusu: Radyolojik Bulgular

Abstract :Osteopetrosis is a hereditary bone abnormality which clinically presents with recurrent pathological fractures and characterized by typical radiographic findings of symmetrical generalized increase in bone density, failure of tubulation and “bone within a bone” appearance. In this study, a rare case of osteopetrosis tarda is presented. A 35 year old woman applied to our hospital with cough symptom and had a history of severe anemia and transfusion due to trombositopenia. On her chest x-ray there was diffuse osteosclerosis of ribs and vertebral bodies. On her paranasal sinus x-ray sclerotic change of the calvarium, and facial bones were noticed. Although rare, osteopetrosis should be considered in the differential diagnosis of diffuse osteosclerosis.
